The beginning of Summit Hearing Aid Center
I began my career at Washington University, St. Louis at Barnes Hospital. Then on to New Haven Hearing and Speech Center and Yale Hospital. I wanted to relocate back to New Jersey and I knew I wanted my practice to be in Summit.
I grew up in Springfield (when the Short Hills Mall was completely outside) and just had a good feeling about Summit. I also knew I wanted to be street- level, as Summit is a “walking” town. Finding space was another story. I scoured newspapers and talked to realtors to no avail. So… I took to the streets and stopped in every shop and asked if anyone knew anyone who was leaving or had space.
I kept passing an empty store on Summit Avenue that had no signage or visible markings. One lucky day 40 years ago I found a letter outside that door’s letterbox with the name of the business on it and contacted the owner.
Needless to say my sleuthing and perseverance paid off and I was able to begin my biggest adventure ever with the nicest landlord possible.
Since our beginning, Summit Hearing Center is a full service diagnostic and dispensing clinic. Unlike some of the large companies, we provide personalized, compassionate hearing services.
